The Baton Rouge Police Department is altering its policy when it comes to the release of body cam and dash cam video related to officer-involved shootings in the capital city.
Officials say the goal is to increase transparency and accountability with Baton Rouge residents.
A decision on the release of any such video must be made by the police chief within 12 days of a shooting. The previous policy kept such video private until an investigation was completed, as well as any possible prosecution.
