BREC Superintendent Announces Retirement

The woman who has been heading up the parks system in Baton Rouge is leaving that post.

BREC Superintendent Carolyn McKnight made her retirement announcement Monday and said she was relocating out of the state.

She had been a central figure and supporter of a failed proposal to relocate the zoo out of Scotlandville to the fairgrounds along Airline Highway.

McKnight is exiting early next year when her contract expires and is planning to move to Texas so she can be closer to her family.
