French Settlement Police Chief Accused Of Malfeasance, Theft

The police chief of the small Livingston Parish town of French Settlement finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

The sheriff's office says 71-year-old Harry Brignac was arrested Wednesday morning and booked on felony counts of malfeasance in office and injuring public records.

He's also accused of misdemeanor theft, all of the charges stemming from his alleged misuse of a village credit card to buy gas for his personal pickup truck.

That purchase on May 15th was for $60 of fuel.
