City Withholding Payment To Downtown Library Architects

The city of Baton Rouge is holding up payment of $345,000 to the architects involved in the troubled downtown library.

WBRZ News 2 reports the city-parish attorney confirmed Tuesday that the funds are not being paid pending the completion of an investigation into structural problems that occurred in April, possibly due to design errors.  Key supports failed, leading to evacuations of the area.

Total design work for the River Center Branch Library is expected to cost the city-parish upwards of $1.5 million.
