Family Suing City Of Gonzales For Alleged Deadly Beating

The City of Gonzales is being sued for punitive damages by the family of a man who they say died after being brutally beaten by cops in April 2015.

The suit alleges that Michael Banks was beaten while in custody and died in August of 2017, a day after he was found unresponsive with a breathing apparatus attached to his face.

WBRZ News 2 reports the lawsuit claims that Banks was kicked, maced and hit his head on the floor, doctors later discovering a four-centimeter hematoma in his brain.
