The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office is now investigating the death of a Port Allen man as a homicide.

It was first believed that 66-year-old Michael Church died of natural causes because of his medical history.

But, an autopsy determined he died from blunt force trauma to the head after being struck with a beer bottle late Saturday afternoon at a home on Louisiana Avenue.

He was found unresponsive in his home on Monday.
