The Advocate and the Baton Rouge Business Report are reporting that Entergy Louisiana is entering into a 20-year deal to purchase all of the solar power from a 50-megawatt plant to be built in West Baton Rouge Parish.
The savings cost to customers is estimated at $29 million over the life of the agreement.
The plant, to be located on a 500-acre site near Port Allen, is expected to be operational by March 2020.
The deal still needs the approval of the Public Service Commission.
