Disturbance Near The Bahamas Not Expected To Develop

The National Hurricane Center is not expecting a disturbance near the Bahamas to develop further as it moves westward this weekend.

"Locally heavy rains and gusty winds are possible over portions of the Bahamas and southern Florida through this weekend," read a special tropical weather outlook issued Friday. The NHC does not expect to issue another advisory for this system.

It is a reminder that hurricane season is less than a month away. The 2018 Atlantic season begins on June 1.

The forecast for the weekend in southeast Louisiana calls for a 40% chance of rain Saturday and then dry, sunny conditions on Sunday. Highs will be in the 80s with lows in the 60s.
