State corrections officials say an escape attempt has been foiled at the Louisiana Penitentiary in Angola.
It happened when inmate Kristopher Schoeing bolted Wednesday afternoon from a field where he was working. Officers yelled at him to stop, but he kept running, prompting the firing of two warning shots.
Schoeing, serving life for aggravated rape in Calcasieu Parish, was tackled and taken back into custody.
