As controversy swirls around Southern University band director Nathan Haymer, school officials confirmed Tuesday that he's been fired from his post.
Haymer was sued in March for allegedly accepting kickbacks of upwards of $10,000 to schedule band appearances during this year's Mardi Gras season and elsewhere.
Haymer has denied the accusations, saying he has never acted in "a nefarious manner."
