Baton Rouge police say an LSU cop accused of beating and holding a woman hostage is in custody.

The BRPD says 25-year-old Samuel Ellis the Third is jailed on charges of second-degree battery and false imprisonment. After working a shift with the university Sunday, he's accused of striking the woman with his fist and then holding her captive for several hours before taking off.

Ellis' arrest was announced last night.
