The Baton Rouge police officer who shot and killed Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge two years ago is in more legal hot water.
Blane Salomoni was fired for violating departmental policies following a lengthy investigation into Sterling's death. Now, according to The Advocate, he's been served with a misdemeanor summons for simple battery after a body cam captured him slapping a suspect on the back of the head a month prior to the deadly confrontation with Sterling.
His attorney believes the new charge is aimed at adversely influencing Salamoni's appeal of his termination.
