Hundreds of Baton Rouge residents will be receiving free smoke detectors this weekend. It's an effort by the American Red Cross to improve the safety of residents.
Volunteers will be going door-to-door tomorrow in the 70805-zip code area to deliver 500 of the devices to homes that don't have them.
Nearly two dozen fires have occurred there this year, one of them claiming four lives.
