One person is dead and four others are injured after all five were ejected from an SUV on I-10 near Gonzales early Thursday morning.
The Ford Explorer rolled into the median after it was struck from behind by a Porsche Cayenne. State police say none of the victims were wearing seatbelts and that charges are pending further investigation.
The crash killed 28-year-old Jefferson Andino of Metairie.
Thursday afternoon, another man was killed after crashing into the rear of a tractor-trailer rig in the "devil's triangle" area of I-10 in West Baton Rouge Parish.
The sheriff's department reports that Jeremiah Huggins was at the wheel of a moving van and pulling a U-Haul trailer when the crash happened. Officials say he was moving his family to Florida from California.
His wife and two of his children were in a separate vehicle and witnessed the crash.
