Woman Killed In Walker Had Restraining Order

A Walker woman is dead after a legal piece of paper failed to stop her longtime boyfriend and father of her four children from allegedly killing her.

Despite having a restraining order, 31-year-old Lydia Johnston was shot to death Monday night at her home. Her attacker, 43-year-old Ricardo Diaz, left before police and Livingston Parish deputies arrived.

He died after leading law enforcement on a chase and jumping off the Mississippi River bridge.

Johnston had obtained the restraining order after Diaz allegedly choked and raped her last month.
