Baton Rouge Joins In Suing Opioid Makers, Distributors

New England Towns Struggle With Opioid And Heroin Epidemic

Baton Rouge is one of the latest communities to file a federal lawsuit against the manufacturers and distributors of opioids that are blamed for the ongoing epidemic of overdoses and deaths.

Louisiana's capital city recorded at least 89 deadly opioid-related deaths last year.

Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome says the city is continuing to bear costs that include providing medical care to those addicted to opioids and law enforcement responding to overdose cases.
