I-10 Westbound Reopens After Morning Fire

UPDATE: 1:10 p.m. Monday - State Police have reopened I-10. Drivers are warned to expect heavy traffic.

Original story follows:

Drivers heading west from Baton Rouge towards Lafayette are having to take U.S. 190 this morning after an 18-wheeler caught fire and shut down I-10 on the Basin Bridge at Whiskey Bay.

Westbound traffic is being diverted to LA 415 to U.S. 190 and then I-49.

State Police have opened one lane near the accident site to clear traffic off the Basin Bridge.
