Major interstate construction plans are in the works for the Baton Rouge area.
Sources tells WBRZ News 2 that the state will announce a decision this morning to expand and add additional lanes to Interstate 10 between the Mississippi River and the I-10/I-12 split east of downtown. The area is often bottle-necked by heavy traffic making its way to and past the capital city.
There apparently are no plans for construction of a new bridge to accommodate I-10 traffic.
