The months of waiting to learn who will be the next permanent leader of the Baton Rouge Police Department came to an end today.
Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome announced in the Metro Council chambers that Murphy Paul is her choice for BRPD chief after one-on-one interviews with the five finalists for the post.
The Advocate notes that Paul was the only finalist who had not served with the department. He is a longtime member of State Police, having served as a trooper since 1994.
