A $319 million spending plan will take effect in East Baton Rouge Parish the first of the year.
The 2018 general fund budget was approved by Metro Council members Tuesday and represents less than a 1% increase over this year's budget. Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome says efforts will be undertaken to maintain services and improve efficiency.
The overall budget totals nearly $919 million.
