A man locked up for more than 45 years after being convicted of kidnapping and raping a Baton Rouge nurse in 1971 is enjoying his first full day of freedom today.
65-year-old Wilbert Jones was released from prison yesterday after a judge overturned his conviction when convinced that prosecutors withheld evidence pointing to another possible suspect.
Jones is free on bond while the state appeals the judge's ruling to the Louisiana Supreme Court.
