A longtime city councilman is now the interim mayor of New Roads.
Anthony Daisy won unanimous approval during a special council meeting last night. Voters won't go to the polls until next year to elect a new permanent mayor following the forced resignation of Robert Myer for his alleged misuse of city-issued credit cards and abusing his authority as mayor.
Myer entered into a plea deal with the state where he pleaded no contest to malfeasance in office.
