ExxonMobil is planning to improve pollution control at its three Baton Rouge plants.
It's part of a settlement with federal authorities that accused the energy firm of violating the Clean Air Act by pumping illegal amounts of dangerous chemicals into the air dating back nearly a dozen years.
ExxonMobil will also have to pay a $2.5 million civil penalty for the violations that also involved five Texas plants.
Almost a half-million-dollars is earmarked for the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
