(WBRZ News 2) Clean-up continued after two crashes on 1-10 East in West Baton Rouge Parish Monday morning.
Authorities say the first crash occurred around 2 a.m. and involved an impaired driver. It was a single vehicle crash that blocked the roadway.
The second crash involved four 18-wheeler trucks and authorities say it occurred as a result of traffic backup from the first crash. Two people were killed and several others were sent to an area hospital.
One of the trucks was hauling sulphur dioxide.
The accidents led State Police to close the Grosse Tete exit on I-10. Drivers heading towards Baton Rouge from Lafayette should use US 190 as an alternate route.
