A man who detectives say killed his estranged wife by strangling her and beating her with a baseball bat will be serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

David Johnson of Geismar learned his punishment yesterday after pleading guilty in July to the 2015 murder of Monica Johnson.

The two had a history of domestic violence, with a restraining order issued against David Johnson months before the murder.
