Heavy rain is being blamed for flash flooding that required the need to rescue some folks from rising waters in East Feliciana and Pointe Coupee parishes.
Dozens of people in the New Roads and Clinton areas were forced into shelters by yesterday afternoon after flood waters invaded their homes Saturday night into Sunday. The sheriff in Pointe Coupee says about 12 inches of rain fell in a four-hour period.
The bad weather also left more than 15,000 Entergy customers without power for hours.
