Many are mourning the death of the Siberian-Bengal tiger known as "Tony the Tiger" who was euthanized yesterday after suffering from kidney failure and other health issues.

The 17-year-old had been on display at the Tiger Truck Stop in Grosse Tete since early 2001.

The Animal Legal Defense Fund who sued to have the tiger removed says in a statement that it is "saddened by the death of Tony" that it says was held captive in a cage "that could never provide the life he deserved."
