A 33-year-old man is in custody in connection to the death of his child.
Zachary Police say the 11-month-old was pronounced dead at the 3400 block of Hancock Street when officers were there to do a welfare check. Fabian Smith was arrested on a first-degree murder charge and a second-degree cruelty to a juvenile charge Saturday.
The Zachary Police Chief says a knife was found at the residence, and that initial investigation shows the child had been stabbed and cut, in addition to blunt force trauma.
