Republican John Schroder is expected to win the runoff election for the next state treasurer.
Schroder finished the first round of voting with 24% of the vote, and was beat out by attorney Derrick Edwards from New Orleans.
Political analysts do not expect Edwards to win on November 18th, and say he won in the primary because he was the only Democrat. Louisiana has gone Republican in recent statewide elections.
