State, Communities Declare States Of Emergency Ahead Of Nate

Louisiana officials are taking the threat posed by Tropical Storm Nate very seriously as hurricane and storm surge watches are posted.

Governor John Bel Edwards has declared a state of emergency in preparing Louisiana for what is expected to be a Category 1 hurricane when it makes landfall Sunday morning near New Orleans.

The leaders of other communities, including New Orleans, have issued their own states of emergency as well, with some calling for mandatory evacuations in areas not protected by the levee system.
