The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement is reporting that the evacuation of platforms and rigs in the Gulf of Mexico has begun because of the threat posed by Tropical Storm Nate.
As of late yesterday, crews on six production platforms had been sent packing and just over 14% of oil production had been shut-in. That's a very small percentage of the 737 manned platforms operating in the Gulf.
One rig has been relocated out of the storm's path.
