A pilot program is now underway in Baton Rouge with the goal of making streets safer for bikers, pedestrians and those using public transit buses.

It was launched yesterday by the Baton Rouge Sustainable Transportation Action Committee comprised of government, nonprofit, health and business representatives.

The initial focus for improvement is in an area bordered by Gus Young Avenue, Lobdell Boulevard, Government Street and the Acadian Thruway.
