Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are watching an area between Jamaica & Cuba for signs of potential development.
"A weak area of low pressure is likely to form from this weather system while it moves northward across Cuba and near the east coast of the Florida peninsula during the next few days, and environmental conditions appear conducive for development before upper-level winds become less favorable early next week," said a Thursday tropical weather outlook.
The system has a 50% chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next five days. It does not appear to be a threat for the Louisiana coast, but could be a rainmaker for Cuba, southern Florida, the Florida Keys and the Bahamas.
