A 20-year-old Baton Rouge woman is facing theft and other charges in a scheme she admitted to police that she carried out to help her family pay the bills.
Daja Allen is accused of stealing scratch-off lottery tickets from where she worked, scanning them for winners and then cashing them in. It amounted to about a $10,000 loss to the store in profits and winnings.
The theft was discovered late last month, resulting in Allen's arrest on Friday.
