Just days remain before the Baton Rouge Metro Council votes on a proposed property tax hike to fund improvements that hopefully will make getting around the capital city easier.
Mayor Sharon Weston Broome conducted a ninth public hearing last night on the Better Transportation and Roads plan. Council members will vote Wednesday on whether to place a question on the November ballot requesting a five-mill property tax hike to fund the BTR plan.
That would cost the owner of a $200,000 home about $62 more a year.
