Baton Rouge police say a nine-year-old girl will apparently survive a wound to the head suffered in a double shooting early last night.
Investigators say she and a woman were hit and injured by gunfire that erupted during a disturbance on 71st Avenue. The victims were driven to a district police station on Scenic Highway, and then transported to the hospital.
Police were investigating to determine exactly what happened that led to the shooting.
A second of at least two shootings in Baton Rouge last night left a man wounded and in serious condition.
Police responded to the shots-fired call around 7:30 on North 38th Street. They say the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left thigh while he was traveling in his car on North 44th.
No suspect or motive information has been released.
