Irma Monday: Impact on U.S. Still Uncertain

Hurricane Irma is gaining steam and expected to strengthen into a Category 4 storm over the next several days.

As of this morning, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center say Irma is at Category 3 strength. Hurricane Hunter aircraft report Irma's maximum sustained winds are at 120 miles per hour.

It's just over 600 miles east of the Leeward Islands and moving west-southwest at about 14 miles an hour.

Florida is a possible target for Irma, but the forecasters say it's too early to tell exactly where the hurricane might go.
