Irma Weakens A Little Friday Morning

Hurricane Irma's wind speeds fell a bit Friday morning to 110 miles per hour, bringing the storm to the upper edge of category 2 status.

The National Hurricane Center says Irma is expected to regain some strength and return to category 3 status over the weekend, approaching the Leeward Islands as a major hurricane next week.

Long-range models suggest that Irma will turn to the northwest before entering the Caribbean Sea and possibly stay out in the Atlantic Ocean. It likely will not be until sometime next week before we know if Irma will be a threat to the United States.
