Harvey Prompts Public Health Emergency In La.

Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price is placing Louisiana under a public health emergency because of Tropical Storm Harvey.

While that may sound dire, it just means that Medicare, Medicaid and CHIP beneficiaries will be able to obtain health services at facilities in the state even if they don't have some of the required documentation of eligibility.

Hundreds of thousands of people in Louisiana rely on one or more of those programs.
