Edwards Declares State Of Emergency For Harvey

A precautionary state of emergency is in effect in Louisiana.

The declaration came Thursday from Governor John Bel Edwards not long after Hurricane Harvey formed off the Texas coast. He says the greatest concern for the state is the potential flood threat from Harvey's rains that could wind up being measured in feet rather than just inches in some Texas and Louisiana locations.

Residents are well into the task of making storm preparations by hitting the grocery and hardware stores for such things as food, water, generators, batteries and flashlights.
