Texas Governor Greg Abbott is declaring a state of disaster for 30 counties as Tropical Storm Harvey takes aim at the Lone Star State.
Abbott said he's taking the preemptive action today to help Texans prepare in case of an emergency. The National Weather Service has issued a Hurricane Watch for the region between Galveston and Victoria. Meanwhile, officials in Houston are preparing for heavy rains and possible street flooding.
Forecasters say the storm is gaining strength in the Gulf and could become a hurricane before it makes landfall sometime Friday or Saturday. The Texas Gulf Coast could see ten to 15 inches of rain from the storm.
