For Now, Tropical Threat Does Not Include Gulf Coast

Tropical Storm Harvey is moving through the Windward Islands and heading into the eastern Caribbean Sea today.

As of 10 a.m. central Friday, the National Hurricane Center located Harvey just south-southwest of St. Vincent, moving west at 21 miles an hour.  Top winds are 40 miles an hour.

Forecasters say one to two inches of rain will fall on parts of the Leeward and Windward Islands from Guadeloupe southward to Grenada, possibly causing flash floods and mudslides.

The NHC is also watching showers and thunderstorms northeast of the Leeward Islands that could become a depression later today or tonight. However, the low pressure system is moving into an area that is less favorable for development.
