Police: Parents Leave Child In Car While Burglarizing Business

The Baton Rouge parents of a two-week-old baby are facing charges that include child desertion after leaving the infant in an unlocked car while they broke into a business.

Police say officers arrived yesterday morning to find Kellie Mercer and Cash Kennedy inside the Nutrishop on Nicholson Drive.  Both are also charged with simple burglary.

The child was turned over to a grandparent.
