The Legislative Auditor's Office is out with a report that concludes the state's foster care program is troubled with high caseloads and staff turnover.
The audit of the program operated by the Department of Children and Family Services found the agency is not performing adequate background checks on foster parents and found that staff members are overworked.
The agency is seeking additional funding to address the shortcomings.
