Tropical Storm Franklin saw some weakening as it moved across the Yucatan Peninsula Tuesday.
However, the storm is expected to flirt with hurricane-force winds after it emerges into the Bay of Campeche later today or tonight. For now, the National Hurricane Center keeps Franklin as a tropical storm, just below the category 1 threshold.
A second landfall along the coast of Mexico is expected on Thursday.
Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are still watching an area of low pressure east of the Lesser Antilles but conditions are not favorable for further development and it has a low chance of reaching tropical depression status.
