Will We See Franklin & Gert Soon?

The National Hurricane Center continues to watch two tropical waves that could be our next named storms.

The wave with the better chance of development over the next five days remains out in the Atlantic. "Environmental conditions are conducive for this system to consolidate and develop during the next few days, and a tropical depression is likely to form by early next week while moving west-northwestward at about 15 mph across the tropical Atlantic Ocean," read the NHC's Friday morning Tropical Weather Outlook.

In the Caribbean Sea, a wave is expected to move towards the Yucatan Peninsula and could emerge into the Bay of Campeche, where it could encounter favorable conditions for further development next week.

The next named storms would be Franklin and Gert.
