The fifth named storm of the 2017 hurricane season has formed in the Gulf, but will not be a threat to Louisiana.
Tropical Storm Emily was right off the western coast of Florida Monday with maximum winds of 45 miles per hour. Moving east at 8 miles per hour, landfall is expected sometime Monday afternoon and Emily will weaken to a depression as it brings heavy rains to the Sunshine State.
Forecasters are also watching a tropical wave located about midway between the Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles, but its chances of further development remain low over the next five days.
