Southern University in Baton Rouge is expected to pick its medical marijuana grower by the end of the month.
Seven companies have applied to take on the role as the school sets up one of the state's two production facilities.
In 2015, a law was put in place so that only the agriculture centers at LSU and Southern University could grow the plant. GB Sciences will grow it for LSU once the contract is finalized.
