Watching The Gulf, Waiting For Further Development

A tropical wave moving into the southern Gulf of Mexico has a high chance of becoming a depression or named storm by Tuesday.

A hurricane hunter plane is scheduled to investigate the large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms on Monday, if needed. The National Hurricane Center gives the system a 90% chance of further development.

Heavy rains and possible flooding are concerns for later this week.

The NHC is also watching Potential Tropical Cyclone Two, which could brush parts of the South America coast as a tropical storm before falling apart later this week.
