Mosquito Population Boom Expected In Baton Rouge

MYANMAR-ZIKA-VIRUS-HEALTH

An uptick in mosquitoes is expected in Baton Rouge after the recent rains.

East Baton Rouge Mosquito Abatement and Rodent Control officials said Wednesday that the area will likely experience a boom in the pesky insects over the next ten days. Zika virus is not an immediate threat, but West Nile virus is.

Residents are encouraged to wear lightweight, long-sleeved clothing, to drain standing water on properties and to use bug repellent when venturing outdoors.
